What's the role about?

As Financial Controller, you will take charge of the day-to-day financial operations, leading a team to ensure efficiency and accuracy in key areas such as fees, purchase ledger, payroll, treasury management, and VAT returns. You'll be responsible for ensuring robust internal controls, overseeing month-end processes, and managing financial reporting, while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

You'll be the point of contact for external audits, and your strong leadership and analytical skills will enable you to drive continuous improvement and maintain the highest standards of financial practice.

What do you need?

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA or equivalent qualification
• Significant experience in financial control or management, ideally within the education, charity, or non-profit sector
• In-depth knowledge of financial regulations (e.g., Charities SORP, VAT, gift aid)
• Expertise in financial systems and reporting tools (advanced Excel skills are a must)
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and a knack for solving complex problems
• Clear, confident communication - you'll be presenting financial data to non-financial stakeholders
• A collaborative approach with a commitment to transparency and integrity
