How We Helped Neoperl Boost Productivity and Save Time with Tailored Industrial Temp Recruitment

Industrial Temp Recruitment for Neoperl

Role: Assembly Operatives

Location: Malvern, Worcestershire

The Brief

The ideal candidates needed:

  • High dexterity to handle components smaller than a wedding ring.

  • Strong attention to detail to meet rigorous quality standards.

  • The ability to work efficiently at pace while achieving production targets.

Outside of the role itself, we know that Neoperl like to take Temporary workers on to permanent positions where possible, so finding individuals who would be a match for the strong company values of Excellence, Responsibility and Passion was key. We were looking for people with a positive attitude who would make a valuable contribution to business for the long term.

The Challenge

  • Identifying candidates who could handle intricate assembly tasks efficiently.

  • Ensuring workers were a cultural fit for Neoperl’s positive and productive environment.

Our Solution

Bespoke Recruitment Campaign

Our Industrial Team leveraged its extensive experience recruiting across Worcestershire. Recognising the uniqueness of every business, we developed a tailored approach after meeting with Neoperl’s HR and Production Managers and touring the site.

Key Steps:

  1. Face-to-Face Interviews: The first thing to mention is that whilst most elements of the recruitment campaign are bespoke, there is one thing that never changes for industrial recruitment at Hewett Recruitment and that is that EVERY Worker for EVERY vacancy for EVERY client is met face-to-face in one of Hewett Recruitment’s branches in Worcester or Kidderminster. For industrial Temp, we only service clients in Worcestershire as we know that this face-to-face time is crucial to the high level of quality we provide. By making an appointment for the candidate to come into branch, we can assess for reliability and motivation as well as offering the highest level of compliance in terms of Right to Work Checks and spotting any concerns around Modern Slavery.

  2. Dexterity Testing: Recognising the importance of fine motor skills for this role, we incorporated dexterity tests during our interview process. Candidates assembled small parts using washers and pins within a set timeframe. This ensured we selected the best-suited individuals, while also directing other strong candidates to roles better matched to their skill sets.

  3. Local Talent Pool: By tapping into our established database of industrial candidates and sourcing through job boards, adverts, and branch walk-ins, we generated a mix of experienced and new candidates. Our local presence on busy high streets facilitated quick and effective sourcing.

  4. Cultural Alignment: Spending 30 minutes with each candidate enabled us to assess their values and suitability for Neoperl’s environment.

  5. Dedicated Landing Page: To further support the recruitment campaign, we updated Neoperl’s dedicated landing page on our website. This page:

Showcases Neoperl as a business, highlighting their values of Excellence, Responsibility, and Passion.

    • Features current vacancies, making it easier for candidates to apply.

    • Includes photos and videos of Neoperl’s facilities, providing candidates with a genuine feel for the working environment and culture.

    • This immersive experience not only attracted high-quality candidates but also ensured they were better informed and engaged before starting their roles.

The Result

Improved Productivity: The introduction of dexterity tests significantly reduced turnover rates for temporary workers. Candidates were able to reach production targets much faster, resulting in an immediate positive impact on productivity at Neoperl.

Time Savings for Neoperl: By conducting all interviews, assessments and compliance checks on behalf of Neoperl, we enabled the client to save significant time and resources. Candidates were ready to work on their first day, meaning that the Neoperl team could focus on training their new team members.

Higher Conversion Rates: The refined recruitment process increased the conversion rate of temporary workers to permanent positions, enhancing workforce stability and long-term value for Neoperl. On this occasion, 7 Workers were made permanent employees.

Enhanced Candidate Experience: Feedback from placed candidates was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting their satisfaction with the placement process and their new workplace.

Testimonial

Louise Hughes, Head of Human Resources UK:

"Since 2020, we have been collaborating with Hewett Recruitment and have found them to be a highly effective recruitment partner. Unlike other local agencies that often invest minimal time in the selection process, Hewett Recruitment has worked closely with us to understand our requirements in terms of both skills and cultural fit.  Candidates come to us well briefed about both who we are and the requirements of the role, ensuring a smoother integration into our team.

We maintain regular communication and appreciate Hewett Recruitment’s responsiveness to our feedback. This collaboration has resulted in the majority of agency workers being excellent matches for our organisational needs, whether they join on a temporary basis or transition to permanent roles, ultimately reducing costs and improving retention rates.

Their partnership is truly valued by us. With their strong local knowledge of the job market, we can manage our business with confidence, especially when it comes to meeting rapidly changing customer demands."
