Assistant Accountant

Location: Malvern, UK
Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 per annum + 5% bonus, pension, health cover, life assurance, death in service

About Us: Hewett Recruitment is excited to present a unique opportunity for an Assistant Accountant to join a medium-sized manufacturing entity in Malvern. The Role: As an Assistant Accountant, you will report directly to the Financial Accountant and play a crucial role in preparing accounts to the trial balance level. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in manufacturing finance, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Financial Accountant in the preparation of month-end accounts and journal entries.
  • Assist with sales and purchase ledger issues and reconciliations.
  • Reconcile third-party warehouse accounts and assist the Inventory Controller with monthly and weekly stock takes and follow-up.
  • Provide cover and support for the Inventory Controller, AP Clerk, and Finance Assistant as needed.
  • Oversee accruals and prepayments.
  • Maintain the Cap-Ex project ledger.
  • Review weekly expenses and perform stock adjustment reconciliations.
  • Assist in setting up new product recipes.
  • Conduct weekly production order analysis.
  • Prepare management accounts for a small sister company.
  • Participate in the year-end audit process.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • AAT qualified or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing finance environment.
  • Proficient in assisting with month-end reporting up to trial balance.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with ERP systems and financial software.
  • Experience in preparing management accounts.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and stock reconciliation processes.
